“I came to Chinese medicine through a deeply personal experience, and have gone on to see how this seemingly simple form of treatment can create profound healing. I am so grateful to have found my calling, and feel it is my mission to share this medicine with my community.”
Julie is the founder of Selby Acupuncture. She is licensed by the State of Minnesota Medical Board, holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts, and a Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is board certified in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine by the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM), is a Fellow, Acupuncture Board of Reproductive Medicine (FABORM), and is a member of the American Society of Acupuncturists (ASA) and the Minnesota Acupuncture Association (MAA).
Julie specializes in working with people facing complex or chronic health concerns: fertility and reproductive health, cancer support, pain, hormonal health, and stress-related conditions, as well as those who simply feel “stuck” and want to feel like themselves again. Every treatment is individualized: some visits focus on symptom relief, others on restoring resilience, improving energy, supporting emotional well-being, or helping the body recover after years of chronic stress.
To make space for deeper work, Julie offers both traditional acupuncture visits and Root & Restore, a comprehensive 60-minute Chinese medicine visit she developed that integrates acupuncture with moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, stone medicine, essential oils, and food therapy. She has also built an extensive clinical reference on stone medicine, rooted in classical Ben Cao methodology and the teaching lineage of Jeffrey Yuen, which she draws on regularly in treatment planning.
“I founded Selby Acupuncture in 2007 hoping to create the kind of clinic I wished existed, a place where patients feel heard, cared for, and empowered to participate in their own healing. Over nearly two decades I've cared for thousands of patients and continue to be inspired by the capacity of the human body to heal when given the right support. It's a privilege to share this medicine with our community.”
“While not in the clinic, I enjoy studying and learning about Chinese medicine (really, I do!), spending time with my husband and two sweet children, and getting into the woods as often as I can.”
A note on scheduling and payment: I see patients on a self-pay basis and don’t bill medical insurance. Payment is handled at the time of your visit, and I’m glad to provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. If you have questions about cost or what to expect, please reach out before booking. I’m always happy to help you plan.
Fall is right around the corner: you can feel it in the air. And whether you are recovering from the state fair, looking ahead to (or dreading) the new school year, or just enjoying the last of the 8:00pm sunsets: know that we are here 7 days a week to help you make the most […]
Simple habits from sleep science and Chinese medicine that can make sleep easier. One of the most common things I hear in clinic is some version of: “I know what I’m supposed to do. I just can’t seem to sleep.” Maybe you go to bed exhausted, only to find your mind suddenly wide awake. Maybe […]
How can herbs support fertility? And how do I know the herbs I take are safe? Herbs are some of the most effective instruments in an acupuncturist’s tool kit for treating infertility. I prescribe them to the vast majority of people that I work with. Some of the most commonly asked questions I get are: […]
