A New Year Begins, Welcome 2025
As we embark on this new year, we extend our deepest gratitude to our valued patients and dedicated team members. It is a privilege to be immersed in such a supportive community. We have a few updates to share and would like to take this opportunity to recognize and welcome two of our newest team members.
Schedule Updates
We have some minor schedule adjustments for Julie and Kathy and we are currently in the process of contacting everyone who will need to be rescheduled.
- Starting January 14th, Kathy will be adjusting her hours and will no longer be seeing patients on Tuesdays.
- Starting February 1st, Dr. Julie will now be seeing patients on Tuesdays instead of Monday evenings.
Meet our Newest Team Members, Ava and Makenna
We are thrilled to formally introduce you to our two newest team members, Ava and Makenna. Some of you may have already had the pleasure of meeting them, but we wanted to share a little more about them to help you get to know them better.
Meet Ava
Ava joined our team as a Patient Care Coordinator in April and has made a positive impact since her first day. Ava currently works Saturdays and Tuesdays. We caught up with Ava to learn more about her and discover what she enjoys about working at Selby Acupuncture.
- SA: What do you like most about Selby Acupuncture?
- AF: My favorite thing about Selby Acupuncture is the warm and welcoming community in the clinic. I always feel relaxed when I get to come in, catch up with our wonderful acupuncturists, and listen to the bird sounds!
- SA: What do you like most about being a Patient Care Coordinator?
- AF: I love getting to know patients that come in regularly and seeing how acupuncture can improve their happiness and health over time.
- SA: When you’re not working what brings you joy?
- AF: When I’m not at work, I love to journal, watch movies, listen to my favorite songs, and spend time with my friends and family.
- SA: If you could do anything tomorrow without limitations, what would that be?
- AF: I would get a puppy! Pets aren’t allowed in my campus housing, and I miss having a dog around while I’m living at school.
Meet Makenna
Meet Makenna, our newest addition to the team! Makenna joined us in December as a Patient Care Coordinator, working Monday through Friday. Here’s what she has to say about her role and the clinic, along with a glimpse into who she is.
- SA: What do you like most about Selby Acupuncture?
- MC: The environment here is truly positive, supportive, and nurturing. Everyone is wholeheartedly committed to helping others on their healing journey. What more could you possibly ask for?
- SA: What do you like most about being a Patient Care Coordinator?
- MC: Witnessing the transformation our patients experience is truly remarkable. The shift in their energy after just one session is nothing short of incredible.
- SA: When you’re not working what brings you joy?
- MC: When I’m not working, joy comes from the simple, meaningful moments: watching my cats relish life, tending to my garden, getting lost in a good book, or sinking into clean sheets after a hot shower. I love the calm of a tidy space, the satisfaction of color-coded lists and labels, and spending time with my boyfriend—whether we’re deep in conversation or I’m just holding the flashlight while he uses power tools. It’s the little things that make life so fulfilling.
- SA: If you could do anything tomorrow without limitations, what would that be?
- MC: If I could do anything tomorrow without limitations, I’d transform our house in Midway into a fully self-sufficient urban homestead. It would feature a few happy chickens, a thriving permaculture garden, a charming micro flower farm, and, of course, a spacious catio for the cats to enjoy.
We adore our team and are grateful for the work they do, and the energy they bring to the clinic. Make sure to say hello to Ava and Makenna next time you stop in.
Have a wonderful January!
