I am excited to introduce Root & Restore, a new comprehensive Chinese medicine visit designed to create more space for individualized care.
After nearly two decades of practice, my curiosity and love of learning Chinese medicine have only grown. I’ve been asking myself a question: how can I bring all I’ve learned into the treatment room for you?
The answer is shaping up into a few meaningful changes.
1. Introducing Root & Restore, a new comprehensive Chinese medicine visit.
Root & Restore is a new 60-minute visit designed for deeper, more comprehensive care. It’s one-on-one time with me, unhurried, expansive, and built around the full toolkit of Chinese medicine, not just acupuncture. Herbs, moxa, bodywork, food therapy, qigong, stones, essential oils, whatever serves you best that day. For complex concerns, major life transitions, or moments when you want to go deeper, this visit creates the space to do that. These are limited appointments, and only 6 a week will be offered.
And don’t worry, my regular acupuncture appointments aren’t going anywhere. Packages are still available. Root & Restore acupuncture visits will be offered at Selby Acupuncture in St. Paul, and introductory pricing is in place while I build it out. Learn more about Root & Restore, and click here to sign up today for visits starting in July.
2. As of July 1st, I am moving to a self-pay model and leaving the insurance networks.
I know that’s a meaningful change, and not one I make lightly. Working outside the insurance model gives me greater flexibility to shape your care around what you need, not around billing or diagnosis codes or time constraints. It’s how I practice at my best, and ultimately how I can do the most for you.
What this means practically is that I will no longer bill insurance directly for visits. Patients may still choose to submit superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement depending on their individual plans. If you prefer to continue using your insurance benefits, do not worry. We have a team of amazing providers who will continue to remain in-network so you can continue using in-network acupuncture benefits within the clinic.
I will continue offering regular acupuncture appointments alongside Root & Restore visits, but both will now exist outside the insurance model. My goal is to create more flexibility in how we work together and more space for truly individualized care.
A Note on Timing and Next Steps
If you currently use insurance benefits for your visits with me, I want to give you plenty of time to plan. Between now and July 1st, nothing changes. After that date, visits with me will be self-pay, and we will provide a superbill for any session you’d like to submit to your plan.
And 3. Updated acupuncture package offerings are coming soon.
Clinical guidelines and research reviews consistently show that acupuncture tends to be most effective when delivered as a structured course of care rather than as isolated treatments. This also reflects what I’ve seen clinically over nearly two decades in practice: consistency and momentum matter.
We will be updating our package offerings with improved discounts and added benefits designed to better support ongoing care and encourage consistency in treatment. Dosage and consistency matter, and we want to make it easier for you to get the care needed for your best outcome. More information on those updated packages will be coming soon.
Thank you for being part of our practice. I’m looking forward to what we can do together.
Julie
