Julie believes in the importance of teaching how small changes in our daily lives can add up to strength and vibrant wellness, and often combines acupuncture and herbal therapies with dietary and lifestyle advice. She is has helped hundreds of patients find relief from symptoms and taught them how to maintain it since beginning practice in 2007.
I came to Chinese medicine through a deeply personal experience, and have gone on to see how this seemingly simple form of treatment can have profound effects in people’s lives. By changing the way we think of our health, and adopting lifestyle changes in addition to acupuncture and herbal medicine, our health can greatly change for the better. It is my desire to share this medicine with my community, to educate people on the lifestyle principles that make up Traditional Chinese medicine, and hopefully to bring them relief from disease and pain, along with a better sense of wellness. I am passionate about this medicine and how gently and effective acupuncture and Chinese herbs can be. While not in the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sweet children, cooking for family and friends, and trying to do something with yarn.
Sara Gillet L. Ac., M.S., Dipl. O.M.
Sara holds a license in Acupuncture accredited by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds state licenses in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Sara attended the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) in Roseville, Minnesota where she earned a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. During her clinical internship she was the primary practitioner within the Multiple Sclerosis clinic at AAAOM. Sara has a Bachelors degree in Communication from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Sara has been practicing at Selby Acupuncture since 2008. Before becoming and acupuncturist Sara worked in marketing for a variety of businesses from the very small to the very large. Selby Acupuncture is by far her favorite professional endeavor. When not working she creates balance by relaxing with her with her husband and two young sons. Relaxing can be difficult with an infant and toddler so in the warm months she can be found bobbing around Lake Superior in the family’s sailboat, Dreamweaver. Being out on the water can calm even the wildest toddler.
I was a student athlete at the University of St. Thomas when I first came to know the benefits of Chinese Medicine. I suffered from a shoulder injury that was not relieved by traditional avenues. After a year waiting for the pain to subside I tried acupuncture and saw immediate and lasting results. Six years later I came back to Chinese medicine this time in pursuit of a career that allows me to help people, the way I was helped years before. Through years of training and both personal and professional experience I have come to know the breadth, depth and power of Chinese Medicine. According to Chinese Medicine health is based on the idea of creating balance. What I have come to respect about Chinese medicine is that it gives each individual the power to achieve this balance. As a practitioner I enjoy educating and empowering each individual to take control of there health in very tangible and realistic ways.
