Birth & Baby Expo, in cased you missed it…

The Birth & Baby Expo at the Midtown Global Market was great!  We got to talk with many new and expecting parents and also a great variety of practitioners about the work we do.

If you missed it, here some info we had at our table:

Acupuncture is part of a system of medicine that evolved more than 3000 years ago in China. People discovered that inserting fine needles into specific points on the body stimulated the body’s innate ability to heal itself. While acupuncture techniques have been refined over the centuries, the essential theory behind the practice has remained intact.  The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes 85 conditions in which acupuncture is an effective therapy.  Conditions include digestive disorders, addiction, nausea and vomiting, common colds, allergies, infertility, insomnia, and pain.

Testimonials
Five years ago I began receiving acupuncture treatments to regulate my menstrual cycle in the hopes of becoming pregnant.  When I became pregnant I found myself overwhelmingly fatigued, irritable and anxious.  I felt horrible.  As my pregnancy progressed I battled significant joint pain as well.  Acupuncture helped regulate my mood, fatigue and pain. It was my only relief.  I continued treatments with my second pregnancy as well.  I tell every pregnant woman I know about acupuncture. I feel blessed to have experienced two great pregnancies and two efficient natural births. I attribute much of my success to acupuncture.

I cannot thank Julie enough for all that she has given me physically and emotionally over the past year.  Initially, I began seeing Julie due to chronic pain in my upper back and neck from years of playing sports.  After nearly a decade of shelling out thousands of dollars on multiple chiropractors and massage therapists, I finally turned to acupuncture for help.  I was absolutely amazed to find relief after just a few sessions.  Additionally, I have always struggled with irregular periods and I tend to ovulate very infrequently.  To my surprise, Julie was able to help regulate my cycles and we are expecting our first baby any day now!  As women, we are so quick to blame and judge ourselves when our bodies do not function the way that we want them to.  Julie taught me to read my body’s signals and help me change my perspective of my body from “deficient and weak” to “nurturing and capable”.  I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to help my body find its natural rhythm without the use of artificial drugs or medications.  I would strongly recommend the healing art of acupuncture to anyone… especially from someone as kind and caring as Julie.  I have come across few people in my life that are as gentle, comforting, and empathetic.  I feel so blessed to have found her.

I am so grateful to have found Selby Acupuncture! After struggling with fertility issues for a few years, I was impressed with the approach and philosophy of acupuncture. Both Sara and Julie were wonderful to work with and made me feel completely confident that we would get the results we were hoping for. I look forward to continuing with acupuncture for ongoing health after my baby is born in a couple of months.

I first began using acupuncture to help with headaches and to relieve tension in my upper back and neck. This therapy helped tremendously! I then decided to use it to help with getting pregnant. After only a few sessions not only were my headaches gone but I became pregnant! I highly recommend Selby Acupuncture, the results are amazing!!
